The Anti-viral Properties of Humic Acid

Humic and fulvic acids are well known for highly beneficial support for the immune system.  Whether its their role as a powerful antioxidant cleaning up free radicals, or as a chelator of toxins and heavy metals or as the transporter of abundant nutrition, humic compounds help fight infectious disease on many fronts.

But real exciting news is now coming to light regarding their anti-viral properties!

Studies have been done on several different types of viruses including HIV, herpes simplex, poliovirus, influenza A and coxsackie A9.  The results of those studies indicate that humic and fulvic acids interfere with the virus' ability to replicate itself.

You see, a virus is not an independent organism like bacteria which can reproduce themselves.  Instead, in order for a virus to multiply, it must attach to or penetrate the human cell.  It then uses the machinery of our own cells to duplicate.  It is the rapid multiplication of viruses in the cell that interferes with normal function and results in cell death.

In short, it appears from this research that humic and fulvic acids have a stronger attraction for viruses than do the cells. This means that they can be used after a viral infection has been diagnosed as a way of decreasing total viral load, or better yet, as prevention by keeping the virus from ever entering our cells in the first place.
